Congregational Ministries Crossroads Christian Fellowship Church has a strong commitment to ministry within our own congregation. Whether it be leading a Bible study, Sunday School teaching, or music, our members understand the need to first build up the kingdom of God through the development of caring disciples. In addition to gathering together for the purpose of study and enrichment, we also fellowship regularly while sharing meals, special programs, golf outings, and camping weekends. See our Events Calendar for more information. We as believers should always be striving to strengthen our own relationship with God. This process comes through fellowship and study with others. At Crossroads we have several established ministries to address the need for spiritual growth of our members. Pastor Todd Jaussen leads an in-depth, while informal, Bible study on Sunday evenings in the Fellowship Hall. A new study on the End Times has begun. Several small groups meet in different members' homes on a regular basis for the purpose of fellowship and Bible study. To learn more about this group contact the church office for information. The Ladies Aid is a group of dedicated women who gather together on Wednesdays to fellowship in the Lord while quilting for Christian and charitable causes. The women bring a sack lunch most weeks except the first Wednesday of each month when they hold a tureen lunch with each member bringing a dish of food to share. This group also regularly plans outings to interesting events or sites. A Ladies Bible Study is also held on Wednesday mornings. A time of Women's Fellowship is usually planned each quarter. These gatherings typically include a meal and a guest program. The program varies from touring a pregnancy center, to an ice cream social, to baking demonstrations, to holiday meals, to other interesting sites. They always include an important spiritual application to a woman's life. A community men's ministry is forming a 'Men of Vision' chapter. See our Events Calendar for more information about this fellowship as it develops. In addition to ministries geared for fellowship and building of the kingdom, we also have several ministries designed to reach out to members and visitors. The Bakers and Takers cheerfully deliver cookies to the homes of first time visitors to our Sunday morning worship service. They always welcome the visitors and invite them back. The Welcome Ministry is a team of greeters who are always ready with a cheerful smile, a warm hug, and a hearty handshake to welcome one and all who enter the doors of Crossroads. A visitation program is in place to keep in contact with visitors. Each summer we organize weekly golf outings. These events focus more on the fellowship and fun than the quality of golf witnessed. From hacker to scratch, all golfers all welcome. The future of any church is its children. Any time, money, and energy spent on children's ministries is an investment which will mature with time. Jesus loved the little children. He said, "Let the little children come unto Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 19:14) Promiseland is a junior church children's program that runs during the Sunday morning worship service sermon time. This program is specially geared to teaching the fundamentals of the Christian faith to children aged 4 to 8 years. The children are led in worship and Bible study on a level appropriate for them. This program now features a series of animated Bible stories which has been a hit with the children. Note that no Promiseland time is scheduled for the last Sunday of each month so the leaders and kids can participate in the regular worship service. 2008 marked the begining of new program at Crossroads geared to reach the unchurched children of our community. We ran a 9 week long themed program that met three days a week for three hours each session. This was an an opportunity to present the gospel to children in a fun and relaxed format. Along with instruction time, the children also participated in crafts, music, games, and weekly fun outings to area attractions. For 2009 we are extending the fun to whole families. We are holding a week long summer Bible School program for entire families with games, crafts, food, fellowship, and fun geared for all ages. Why let the kids have all the fun? An important component of any adult or children's ministry is a well-run nursery. We have a staffed nursery available during the Sunday morning worship service and also during select special events. The nursery is available for infants and toddlers through 3 years of age. Today's teens are facing more worldly pressures than ever. For this reason it is very important that the church provide an oasis for youth where they are encouraged to fellowship together and receive good biblical encouragement from adults. We currently have a combined junior high and senior high youth group that meets weekly on Sunday evenings. The meetings include games, fellowship, and study times. All youth in grades 7 through 12 are invited to come. The youth themselves helped design the activities and direction of the group through the selection of 'hot topics'. These topics have led the youth to offering a free night of babysitting at the church, playing numerous games, a trip to a corn maze, hosting a live nativiy scene, helping with the renovation of the new Jam House, hearing exciting speakers, a Super Bowl party, a Winter Weekend retreat, and a church challenge basketball game. Crossroads Christian Fellowship faithfully supports sending its children and youth to church-sponsored summer camp programs. It is essential for children to be able to get away and have fun in a camping environment. See the church office for more information on how to participate in this program. Music is an essential part of the life of a Christian. Music can cause us to worship, it can give us hope, and it can teach us about our faith. We are blessed to have several groups that lead us in worship through music. The Joyful Sound Choir under the direction of Debbie Weese presents choir arrangments for the Christmas and Easter cantatas as well as for during the Sunday morning worship service once a month throughout the year. Regular choir practice is scheduled for Thursdays at 6:00 pm. New voices are always welcome. The Praise and Worship Team leads the congregation in praise music at the start of every Sunday morning worship service. The group is a combination of both vocal and instrumental accompaniment. This group has also begun taking part in praise services at other local churches. The team currently practices on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. A children's bell choir has been formed and has performed several times. This is always a fun group to watch. Besides having regular special music performances during the Sunday morning offering, we are also blessed to be able to enjoy many special events centered around music. These range from concerts by local gospel groups to congregational hymn sings. |
