Site Help On the left is our site navigation menu. Use these links to navigate to the various pages of the site as well as to open the current calendar, bulletin, and newsletter as full screen. Some elements on our pages require JavaScript to function properly. Upon opening a page, if you see a message in your browser about scripts being disabled then you can either temporarily allow the scripts to run via the pop-up message, enable scripts in your browser settings, or add our site address to your browser's list of safe sites.
If at any time some page content (menu, photos, calendar, map, etc.) does not appear to have displayed properly, then do not hesitate to utilize your browser's page refresh tool. Some browsers extensively cache content from previous site visits. Therefore the browser may simply display the content that had been already stored on the local computer rather than the new updated data from our site's server. To force the browser to clear that cache of old information hold down the Ctrl key and hit F5 in order to see all of our new content.
A new feature is the custom search tool located in the right column of each page. This tool provided by Google will conduct a search for the term you specify only within our site structure. Type the name, term, or topic you want to search for within our series of pages. Hit the Crossroads Search button to initiate the search process. The results of the search will then be displayed on a new page. Click on any search result to see the page on which it was found. Be aware that Google caches web page content for quite some time and may display results that have expired or are no longer available.
The text of this center column can be resized for readability on all our site's pages. There is a tool located in at the top of the right column on all pages (the uppercase letter A shown in four sizes) that can be used to set the text size in this column only. This utilizes a cookie (which must be enabled in your browser) to store your preferred text size for all the pages in this site and also your future visits to our site. The cookie's value is verified each time a page on our site is opened or refreshed. (If you clear your brower's cookie folder then the text size will be reset to medium at your next visit.) There are four text sizes available for viewing. The sizes are listed from left-to-right as Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large as defined by your own computer and brower's settings. Note the yellow-colored letter indicates the current setting stored in the cookie file. Upon your first visit the cookie while automatically be set to the medium text size.
The sermon and Bible study audio files are stored in mp3 format. All of the audio files are quite large (5 Mb or larger) so a high-speed internet connection is recommended for downloading or streaming. If you choose to listen to the streaming sermons through this site's player then Adobe Flash Player is required to be installed. All sermon and Bible study audio files are accessed via our external Sermon Blog site. Each weekly posting will contain the link to the audio file along with links to read the scripture references and any handouts. The listen link opens the file for listening in a separate browser window. The file should start playing as soon as enough content is buffered in the player. On a slow internet connection there may be intermittent pauses heard while the player downloads enough material to continue. If you perfer to download the files for playing later then you need an mp3 audio player such as Microsoft Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, or Apple QuickTime Player. To force a file download, right-click on the desired sermon link and choose 'Save As..'. You will then be prompted to provide a storage location and filename for the file. If you frequently utilize RSS feeds, you may be interested in utilizing the Sermon Blog for notification of the latest available sermon. By subscribing to the blog through a RSS reader, you will automatically receive notice when the audio file is ready for listening or downloading right from the reader program. This feature can also be used to create podcasts. To access this service, visit our Sermon Blog or subscribe to crossroads16125.blogspot.com in your favorite feed reader.
Scripture links to the sermon texts are provided through BibleGateway. The scripture links will open in a separate brower window. The bulletin, newsletter, and hand-out files are available in pdf format which can be viewed with Adobe Reader. Visit their site to get the latest version of the viewer. The pdf files were created with CutePDF printer driver. A special note a thanks to Google for developing the imbedded free tools for the calendar, photo gallery, custom internal search, and map link.
